Bert joined SSC Wealth in 2007 and serves as the leader in charge of wealth management. He brought with him 14 years of industry experience in working in private client financial services. He has passed his FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 exams as well as his life and health insurance exam for the state of Kansas.
Bert received his Bachelor of Science in business administration in 1988 from Kansas State University. He joined the financial services industry because of his desire to help people achieve their goals, and he focuses on his clients’ needs to create customized answers in working toward their long-range plans.
Bert lives in Topeka with his wife, Michele, and they have three adult children: Brandon, Lauren and Brock. He likes to spend his time hunting and playing golf, and he has hit five holes-in-one in his lifetime.
Brian became a part of SSC Wealth in 2008 and now serves clients through management consulting, income tax preparation and planning. He has passed his FINRA Series 7 and 66 exams.
Brian received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Washburn University in 1999. He joined the financial services industry so that he could help clients with all aspects of their financial goals.
Brian lives in Topeka with his wife, Jenny, and their two children, Emily and Austin. They also have two dogs, Maddie and Margo, and a cat named Bob. Brian loves being outdoors, especially when he’s boating and spending time on the fairways.
Michele re-joined SSC CPAs + Advisors, Inc. in 2005 and then SSC Wealth in 2019. She serves her clients through proactive business consulting and financial planning. Michele is also a certified valuation analyst. She has passed her FINRA Series 7 & 66 exams.
Michele received her Master of Accounting and Information Systems in 2001 form the University of Kansas. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Kansas Society of CPAs and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. She is the past Chairman of the Board of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and past President of Junior Achievement of Douglas County. In 2019 Michele received the KSCPA/AICPA 'Women to Watch' Experienced Leader Award.
Michele lives in Lawrence with her husband Jerry and their two children, Jacob and Elyse. They spend much of their time traveling or planning where they are going to travel next. She is an avid Disney fan and has attended the Disney Institute for Leadership.
Brenda joined SSC CPAs + Advisors, Inc in 1992 and SSC Wealth in 2008. She has passed her FINRA Series 7 and 66 exams.
Brenda received her Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Washburn University in 1992. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Kansas Society of CPAs and the Kansas Society of CPAs Peer Review Committee. She also serves her community as the treasurer of Child Care Aware of Kansas.
Brenda lives in Topeka with her husband, Gary, and their two dogs, Rose and “Princess” Jasmine. She loves to spend time with her granddaughter, practice yoga, travel and watch her Kansas City Chiefs in action on the gridiron.
Reid joined SSC Wealth in 2015 and assists with estate planning, tax preparation, tax planning and exit planning. Prior to SSC CPAs + Advisors, he gained seven years of experience providing tax and consulting advisor to small- and mid-sized business owners and high net worth clients. He has passed his FINRA Series 7 & 66 exams.
Reid received his Bachelor of Business Administration in management and accounting in 2006 from Washburn University. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Kansas Society of CPAs, the Active 20/30 Club, the Topeka Chamber of Commerce and Fastforward. He is the treasurer of the Active 20/20 Club and participated in the “20 up to 40” Leadership Program in the KSCPA. In his community, he serves as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and is a supporter of the Seaman Booster Club.
Reid lives in Topeka with his wife, Laine, who is a realtor in Topeka, and their two children Elise and Barrett. In his leisure time, he enjoys watching high school sports, farming for wildlife, bow hunting and teaching his children how to play sports.
Scott became a part of SSC Wealth in 2015 and seeks to help others and follow the Golden Rule in working with clients and in his role as manager at the firm. He has passed his FINRA Series 7 and 66 exams.
Scott received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Washburn University in 2002. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Kansas Society of CPAs and the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce.
Scott lives in Lenexa with his wife, Anne, and their two children. He enjoys watching sports, teeing it up on the golf course and spending time with his family.
Jim joined SSC Wealth in 2007 and provides services in financial and retirement planning. He has passed his FINRA Series 7 and 66 exams as well as his life insurance exam for the state of Kansas. Prior to joining SS&C, Jim was a bank trust officer for two years, a financial adviser for two years and a CPA for 14 years at three separate firms.
Jim received his Bachelor of Science in accounting and business administration in 1977 from the University of Kansas. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the AICPA Personal Financial Planning Section and the Kansas Society of CPAs. He seeks to simplify the complicated for his clients, and he hopes to add value to the tax planning and preparation services he provides for them.
Jim lives in Lawrence with his wife, Julie, and together they have two sons, Guy and Mitch. In his leisure time, he enjoys running, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.
